Train à Grande Vitesse ( TGV) is a fast train France. Developed by Alstom and SNCF, and operated by the SNCF, the French national rail company. This train connects the cities in France, especially Paris, and also neighboring countries, such as Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland. TGV or TGV train is based also operates in the Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, and the United Kingdom and the United States. TGV train produced by Alstom. TGV is a passenger train, but some are used for the delivery of letters between Paris and Lyon
The idea of the TGV was first proposed in the 1960s. The first prototype, known as the TGV 001, using gas turbines and produce its own electricity from oil, but after the energy crisis of 1973 and an increase in oil prices high , the idea was deemed impractical. The first electric prototype completed in 1974 , with the final version delivered in 1980 and opened the first public service between Paris and Lyon on 27 September 1981.
Since then , other pathways to Tours / Le Mans, Calais, Brussels and Marseille have been opened. The path to Strasbourg is under construction . And also the other line out of France that is being built there to London, Cologne, and Amsterdam. Further development to Spain and Italy are still in the planning.
TGV fast train not the first, because the Japanese Shinkansen between Tokyo and Osaka has been opened since October 1, 1964, almost 17 years earlier than the TGV.
